The groundbreaking, highly influential and sadly extinct Swedish hardcore band Refused has been honored by Decibel, the country’s leading extreme metal magazine, with the prestigious “Hall of Fame” installment on the cover of their September issue in celebration of the recent Deluxe reissue of the group’s classic album The Shape of Punk to Come.

Beginning today, fans can purchase a copy on newsstands or order online Decibel. 

In an unprecedented worldwide exclusive, Decibel delves deep in the psyche of one of the most important hardcore bands to discuss the making of their prophetically titled album. For the first time since their breakup in the late ‘90s, the entire band has come forward to talk about the trials and tribulation of recording the album that ultimately led to the demise of the band.

"US album release / UK tour / Swedish festival

Deranged Records is finally giving our first album a US/Canada release. It ships on June 30th and there's a ltd ed version of a 100 only green vinyl copies, the rest are in black. The track listing is the same as the Ny Våg version, but the cover is a different colour. You can pre-order it at www.derangedrecords.com

We're also gonna tour the UK from the 15th to the 24th of October, and then a few other European countries in November. 

And we're doing the Getaway Rock Festival in Gävle, Sweden, on opening day Thursday 8th of July."

The rumours on the Internet about a possible Refused reunion are not true according to Dennis Lyxzén: 

"No, we are not reforming, me and David are going on tour next week with our new Hardcore band AC4 – sleeping on kids floors and playing doordeals, that seems to be more in line with what we deserve."

"Epitaph Records has announced plans to release a Deluxe Edition of one of the most influential hardcore albums of all time, The Shape of Punk to Come, from groundbreaking Swedish band Refused on June 8. 

The Deluxe Edition of The Shape of Punk to Come will be released as a three disc collection that will include the essential full-length CD, a never-before-released mind-blowing live album and the classic yet bittersweet documentary Refused Are Fucking Dead on DVD.

Originally released in 1998, The Shape of Punk to Come “blurs the lines that separate punk, metal and hardcore, while peppering this brutal fusion with bits of techno percussion, jazzy rhythmic change-ups and long, complex song structures that support politically-charged messages,” (CMJ, 1998). Refused’s most critically acclaimed and final album exploded on the scene with the jaw-dropping hardcore anthem “New Noise,” which Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello once described as “one of the great rock jams of all time” (Filter, 2006), and helped change the game forever influencing a range of genres still to this day. 

In addition to The Shape of Punk to Come, the bundle also includes the long-rumored about unreleased, incendiary live album that was recorded at the Umeå Open festival in their hometown Umeå, Sweden on April 3, 1998 and the 80 minute DVD documentary Refused Are Fucking Dead that includes interviews, backstage footage and live performances that chronicle the rise and fall of one of hardcore’s most revered bands. 

While Refused remains fucking dead for now, their music lives on in a must have collection of the most crucial hardcore ever created."
